Is He Interested? New Study Tells You How To Tell

by Dr. Diana Kirschner on November 1, 2010

There was a recent study done at Indiana University involving speed dating and the ability of observers to predict dating outcomes within the first 10 seconds of watching video footage. For the study, 28 women and 26 men of college age watched video clips of couples having brief one-on-one conversations during speed dates and this is what they found:

Observers were able to judge the guy’s romantic interest accurately using body language, tone of voice, eye contact, how often each dater spoke and other non-verbal cues. So check out how your date is acting with you–is he making eye contact, leaning in, mirroring your body? These are all clues he is into you.

Meanwhile 80 percent of the observers thought the women shown were interested when in fact they were not — they were just flirting! The researcher felt this is because when choosing a mate, it is in a woman’s best interest to get men to open up and talk honestly to give her a better idea of whether they would be good long-term partners.

Wonderful article, keep up the good work.

The Great Big Orgasm in the Sky

As an early Baby Boomer, I have had my fill of attempting sexual fulfillment through all those heady years of Germaine Greer, Betty Friedman, Anais Nin and , those I am not happy saying it, Helen Gurley Brown. I think it was the Cosmo type of crowd that was responsible for building the hype that said if you have not had a orgasm that sent you shuddering to the moon, then you were not woman enough. Though one had access to ‘the boyfriend’s’ tattered copies of Playboy which further fuelled anxiety about lacking some essential missing link that wrecked our sex lives.

Aawesome! Commentary of such quality always needed for the youth. The article is really an insightful one and seems to be of great help to someone who is sincere about the studies done in this area. I am optimistic that more such articles will help people gain better understanding of the subject and will go a long way…..
